The funeral ceremony, guided by Mr. Mickey Wiese, was a tribute to Andrea’s friendships and her world. As parents, we do not really have any guideance for the transition of the child into a young adult, it is a most difficult transition, naturally – mind-chemically driven, and most unlike, the physical growth stagess. (baby-toddler-which we mastered and can give clear advice on),. Later, in pre-teen, we have the added input of a growing mind and for me, her mother, the leap of the child-to pre-teen-teenager was most profound. I tried to stay back and not be “all in her face” as she wanted and needed private space – Her life – Her friends – Her reality. We were not for many years now, a typical mother-daughter relationship, she was a like a friend too., we made that lovely transition of child-adult/young adult-adult when she was about 9 years old. The funeral services reflected her world- her friends, their family, the teachers, our friends and colleagues, the community- OUR INTERCONNECTEDNESS.
